Herd at Work
NEW Discovery Trail & Bison Coming in Late May

Visitors will find an exciting new stop this summer on the I-80 corridor in south central Nebraska, thanks to the new discovery trail project and live bison exhibition herd at the Crane Trust Nature & Visitor Center. Longer term, a larger herd of bison will become part of the Crane Trust's habitat management plan on the prairie.

The new discovery trail will unfold in phases over the next couple years and will open miles of prairie and diverse habitat to the public. The first phase will begin in late May with the opening of the Nature & Visitor Center's live bison herd exhibition. From there, the trail will lead visitors across the Platte River where they'll be greeted by a variety of learning stations and one-of-a-kind exhibits that reveal the wonders of the Platte River Valley and its extraordinary ecosystem.

The three-year project is being funded through private donations, trail fees, and a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust with revenue from the Nebraska Lottery.
